A 60-year-old primary school headmaster and farmer, Mathew Owoade, has been released after being kidnapped in Oyo State's Itesiwaju council area. The Oyo State Police Command confirmed his freedom.

The Federal Government has welcomed the suspension of the teachers' strike in Oyo State, commending Governor Seyi Makinde and the Nigeria Union of Teachers for their roles in resolving the industrial action.
